What are the performance characteristics of fluoroplastics, the raw material for fluoroplastic pipes
Release Time:2023-10-31 Browse:110

The fluorine plastic used in the production of fluorine plastic pipes is a material with good heat resistance, cold resistance, weather resistance, drug resistance, solvent resistance, excellent insulation and high-frequency electrical performance, and can reflect the characteristics of non drying, self-lubrication, low friction coefficient, etc. It is precisely because of these characteristics that fluoroplastic pipes are so unique.

Of course, there are differences between fluoroplastics, such as polytetrafluoroethylene and perfluorinated copolymers, which are entirely composed of carbon and fluorine atoms; Polyvinylidene fluoride and polyfluoroethylene molecules also contain hydrogen atoms, while polytetrafluorochloroethylene also contains chlorine atoms. The excellent properties of these fluoroplastics are achieved by the high binding between carbon and fluorine atoms.

The main chain skeleton of polytetrafluoroethylene is carbon atoms, and its surroundings are completely surrounded by fluorine atoms, so its performance in all aspects is the highest; Due to the influence of side groups, PFA, FEP, ETFE and other varieties have low softening point PTFE, and other properties have also changed, resulting in differences in the performance of various fluoroplastic pipes.

Fluoroplastics have flame retardancy and excellent heat resistance, among which PTFE and PFA can be continuously used at temperatures up to 260 ℃ and can be used at 300 ℃ in the short term; And the usage temperature of FEP is 60 ℃ lower than them; PCTFE can be used at 120 ℃. However, when fluoroplastic pipes are used at high temperatures for a long time, it can also cause changes in crystallinity.

Fluoroplastics have excellent resistance to drugs and solvents, especially PTFE, PFA, FEP, etc. Acids, alkalis, and solvents do not corrode them, but molten alkali metals, fluorine, and trifluorochlorinated hydrocarbons have varying degrees of influence on them. Therefore, attention should be paid to the use of fluoroplastics pipes.

The electrical properties, especially high-frequency electrical properties, of fluoroplastics are difficult to compete with other materials because their molecular polarity is very low, with small changes in a wide temperature and frequency range, stable relative dielectric constant, low dielectric loss, and excellent electrical insulation. In addition, fluoroplastics also have good mechanical properties, non adhesion, weather resistance, hydrophobicity, etc., making fluoroplastics pipes widely used.
